Here are 5 Great Ways to Challenge Yourself in 2021

In 2020, we were all challenged in ways that we couldn’t have expected and in ways that were out of our control. In 2021, we are getting back to normal and things are in our own hands again. However, that doesn’t mean that we have to stop challenging ourselves! You should always challenge yourself to be the best that you can be, this year more than ever: keep the momentum from last year going. At Trinity Universal Center, Inc. we promote self-empowerment, along with healing and relationship building. Here is our list of 5 great ways to challenge yourself this year.

Read New Books

Reading is a great way to challenge yourself. It’s difficult to find the time and to stick with one book to the end, but it is very rewarding when you take the time to read and finally finish a book. You can try reading one book a month and change up the genre: read a fantasy book one month for entertainment, and read a self-help book the next month to learn a few things. Need some suggestions? Check out our store where you’ll find some great books!

Write down Your Thoughts

Writing down your thoughts sounds like an easy task, but sometimes it can be difficult. Whether you want to start keeping a daily journal, or if you want to write letters to friends, family, or even yourself, or whether you want to write creatively, it is a good personal development practice to put pen to paper. Not only is this a good stimulant for your brain, but it can also help clear your mind if you write down your thoughts. If you like to write, check out our Pen or Pencil: Writing a New History Program.

Exercise Once Per Day

Exercise plays a big role in both physical and mental health. Even if it isn’t a vigorous workout and you just go for a leisurely walk, there are many benefits to it. The fresh air and sunlight are both wonderful for your mind and body. Exercise strengthens your heart and even improves your overall circulation. Exercise also helps to improve your sleep and reduce your stress and anxiety. While you may not always be motivated beforehand, you will always feel accomplished afterwards, making exercise one of the best self-empowerment techniques. Challenge yourself to exercise once every day, but switch up the exercises and have fun with it!

Connect with Your Friends

Life slips away from all of us, and we get busy. When we get busy, we often lose touch with people and don’t make time for them. The truth is, we usually have free time, we just exhaust ourselves and then use our free time for ourselves instead of for connecting with friends. Challenge yourself to connect with old friends and to make time for the ones you’re still close with. It may be difficult at first, but the payoff will be rekindled friendships and you will be happier for it. There are many relationship building techniques to strengthen your relationships, but the first step is to simply connect. Learn more about us and how we can help you with relationship-building.

Narrow Your Focus

It can be challenging sometimes to balance our various interests and hobbies. You might dabble with one thing and then the next, but you never focus on any one thing for very long. Challenge yourself to narrow your focus onto one specific goal or hobby or interest. The most successful people at any given thing tend to dedicated most of their time to that specific thing. Enhance your personal development and become an expert at the interest you are most passionate about, instead of a novice in a variety of things. Trying to do this might help you realize what it is you are most and truly passionate about, and that narrowed focus will allow you to dedicate enough time into that thing to become successful.

7 Free Resources for Starting Your Own Business

How do you start your own business? You’ve probably asked yourself this at some point after having a great new business idea, whether it was a shower thought that spiraled into a bigger vision or something you’ve had in your back pocket for years. We are all about personal development and self-empowerment here at Trinity Universal Center, and starting your own business is a great way to do exactly that: empower yourself. It’s important to do some research before starting a new business, however. While there are always some hoops that entrepreneurs must jump through in preparation of launching a new business, it may be more realistic and less overwhelming than you think. Here are 7 free resources that will help get you started on the road to your new business.

1) Free WordPress Website

  • The basis of having an online presence is having a website. WordPress is one of the best free website platforms online. There are benefits of eventually moving to a paid version, such as a customized URL and the option to sell more products and services on your site, but a free website is a great starting point for any business startup.

2) Facebook Business Page

  • Facebook is one of the best free tools for how to start a new business. With a business page, you can add your business hours and information, link to your website and other social accounts, add images and videos, and help with brand awareness. With your personal page, you can invite all of your friends to “Like” your business page to help build an audience for free. When you eventually have a budget, you can boost your posts or run targeted ads.

3) Google My Business

  • You can inquire with Google about setting up a Google My Business page, where they will verify that you own the business and will allow you to optimize the page. This is a free way to help improve your SEO by making your company more visible online, and will make it easier for potential customers to find your website, address, hours, and contact information.

4) Free Design Tools

  • Free design and image editing tools online, such as Canva, are a great and free way to help with starting a new business. Logos help with branding, and brand awareness is a key element of establishing your business online. You can use sites like Canva to design social media posts, print flyers, website banners, and more to make your brand look professional.

5) Gmail for Storage

  • Not only is Gmail is a trusted and user-friendly email client, but with your Gmail account comes up to 15 gigabytes of free storage in Google Drive. You are also able to create Google Drive folders and easily share documents and resources with your team.

6) Yelp for Reviews

  • Yelp is a free tool, and crucial for local businesses especially. Yelp for Business Owners will allow you to take action with the reviews you get, such as highlighting the positive reviews and reaching out to people who review your business. Reviews and testimonials are great to share on your website and social media pages, showing potential customers that you are a brand to be trusted.

7) Constant Contact Free Trial

  • Constant Contact is the pinnacle of online email marketing, and beyond that their platform offers social media marketing, websites, logo-makers, event campaigns, surveys, photo editing, and much more. While their 60-day free trials are limited, they get you started with an account and focused on your email marketing efforts. Would you like to start a consulting business, but aren't exactly sure where to start?
With so many options it can be challenging to pinpoint what service to offer, and to which audience. You may have heard the phrase “the riches are in the niches” but also don’t want to miss out on an opportunity to generate revenue from anyone who’s willing to pay you.
While it can be tempting to cast a wide net, every “and” you add to your service or audience description decreases the impact by half. As with any business, your services will evolve over time, but here’s a three-step process to get you started.

Step 1: Take a self-inventory

Step 2: Determine the industries you would like to work with

Step 3: Research their problems and develop a solution
